Custom Mold Design & Manufacturing

DG Proto supports custom mold projects from product evaluation and DFM review through mold design, precision machining, assembly and trials.

Working with our manufacturing group, we help customers develop molds for plastic components and review tooling requirements for other processes based on each project.

Mold Design & Manufacturing

What We Support

Product & Tooling Review

DFM Analysis

Mold Flow Review

Review the part drawing, material, expected volume and key functional requirements.

Assess wall thickness, draft, parting lines, ejection and assembly considerations.

Evaluate filling, cooling and potential molding risks when required by the project.

Mold Design

Precision Mold Machining

Assembly & Mold Trials

Develop the mold structure, gating, cooling and ejection systems.

Machine mold components and control critical dimensions and surface features.

Assemble the mold, run trials and review samples before production approval.

First Mold Trial Inspection

Part and tooling requirements reviewed before design.

Mold structure developed around the product requirements.

Mold components machined to the approved design.

Components assembled and checked before trial.

Initial samples evaluated against the agreed requirements.

Trial feedback used to refine the mold and process.

From Mold Trial to Injection Molding

Mold development is closely linked to the final molded part. After assembly and trials, samples can be reviewed for dimensions, appearance, fit and function. Any agreed adjustments are completed before the project moves toward stable production.

Our group’s injection molding capability includes machines ranging from 80T to 1300T. Machine and mold suitability are confirmed after reviewing the part design and production requirements.

Clear Reviews at Each Project Stage

We review requirements before mold design, check mold components during manufacturing and evaluate samples after trial. Inspection scope and approval criteria are agreed according to the part drawing and project needs.

If your product has critical dimensions, cosmetic surfaces or assembly requirements, please identify them when sending the RFQ.
